Salem Art Works (SAW) presents the inauguration of three new ‘art houses’ on Saturday, June 2, 2018.
The Art House project features three new artists-designed structures, built on top of repurposed trailer frames. Three curated teams of artists will be in residence at Salem Art Works from May 9 through June 2 to construct these unique ‘tiny house’ structures. Once completed, the houses will serve as studio spaces and temporary living quarters for artists in residence at SAW.
The opening will take place around the pond at SAW. Guests can tour the new houses and meet the artists who created them. Four houses from last year’s Art House residency will also be on view.
Visitors may also wish to drive to the top of SAW’s property to enjoy the views and tour the Cary Hill Sculpture Park. Free live music and performances throughout the night.
This project was made possible in part by generous donations from Allerdice Building Supply in Saratoga Springs, NY Drumms Sawmill in Schuylerville, NY, Habitat for Humanity, Lowes, R.K. Miles in Manchester, VT, Salem Hardware, and Curtis Lumber in Granville, NY. Numerous area residents also donated building supplies and surplus materials in support of the project.
