International Sculpture Day, or IS Day, is an annual celebration event held worldwide on April 24 to further the ISC’s mission of advancing the creation and understating of sculpture and its unique, vital contribution to society.
IS Day will include a wide range of events, openings, educational and promotional activities around the world to include, but not limited to open day at museum/sculpture park, open studios tours, demonstrations, workshops, panels, talks, presentations, discussions, parties and openings, sculpture exhibits, shows, tours of collections, private and public, pop up shows, exhibitions, and more!

This year Salem Art Works is pleased to participate in International Sculpture Center's ISDay. On April 24th for ISDay starting at 1pm, Salem Art Works will host an open house, which will have two open exhibitions, an artist talk, tours around the sculpture park and demos in each facility. Guests are welcome to explore, chat, and watch demonstrations in glass blowing, cuttlefish mold making, stone carving, printing, and blacksmithing. Florin Strejac, an international stone carver, will have a solo exhibition and give a talk about his art career and processes. In Barn 2, there will be a group show, titled Battenkill Inspired about the Battenkill River that connects and inspires the local region. Tours will include a drive / walk around the sculpture park, giving interesting facts and information about the sculptures, artists, the park itself, and Salem NY's history.
