Salem Art Works to Host Taste of SAW Fundraiser
Saturday, July 13, 2019, from 5 to 9 PM

Salem, New York: Salem Art Works (SAW), announces that on Saturday, July 13, from 5 to 9 PM, it will host its annual fundraiser, Taste of SAW in Barn 2, 19 Cary Lane, Salem, NY.

Taste of SAW is a farm-to-table meal showcasing the best locally sourced food from the area accompanied by local craft beers and ciders. Local alt bluegrass band, The North and South Dakotas will provide musical entertainment, and the evening’s spectacle will include the emptying of SAW’s anagama wood-fired kiln.

This year’s theme is “Artists Creating Opportunities for Artists,” which will showcase the efforts artists make to support their peers. SAW and its residents have helped artists open doors and achieve their goals, whether it be applying to a graduate arts program, securing a tenured faculty position, or learning a skill that enables the artist to find work. This year’s keynote speakers will be regional artist Vivien Collens (sculpture), and Mass MOCA Director of Fabrication & At Installation, Richard Criddle.

“I’m very excited to host this year’s Taste of SAW,” said Anthony Cafritz, SAW’s Founding Executive Director. “We’re focusing on what artists can do to support their fellow artists and how the experience of SAW can transmogrify into new and unique opportunities for artists to thrive in the outside world. Since this is the very essence of what SAW is about, I’m excited to focus on this element of our mission.”

Admission to Taste of SAW is $75 per person for the buffet; $150 per person for the buffet, beer, and cider, plus a take-home one-of-a-kind handmade ceramic bowl by SAW artist Salvatore Annunziato, and a blown glass tumbler by SAW artist David Mummey. All proceeds from the event go to support the Artist Residency program.
