Introduction to Iron Casting Workshop

This workshop is open to anyone interested in casting iron, as well as Blacksmiths interested in making their own cast iron fire pots, clinker breakers, swage blocks and any other accoutrements pertaining to their craft or creativity. Students will have access to a variety of patterns provided by the foundry director, but are encouraged to bring items they are interested in, their own patterns, and ideas. This course will provide students will basic mold making techniques including parted molds and the lost wax process, as well as hands on experience with safety practices in pouring metal.  


August 22 thru August 28, 9:00am to 4:00pm
Instructors: Michael Bonadio
Cost: $400, includes wax and furnace fee. Mold making and metal fee not included

What to Bring / Wear

Participants must have close-toed shoes or boots, natural clothes, and hair tied back


14 +, Participants under 18 must have a parent/guardian present
No previous experience required
