Blacksmithing - Tools and Tongs

This workshop is open to any level of student.

In this workshop participants will have an opportunity to make their own basic hand tools for blacksmithing. We will cover design and making of a hand held hot cut, slot punch, hole punch, fuller,  heading tool and tongs. Basic blacksmithing techniques covered include general forging process, punching, drifting, heading, riveting, basic heat treatment (hardening / tempering). Participants will learn the skills and principles required to build on and develop tools for their own shop or studio.


Saturday May 6 and Sunday May 7, 9:30am to 4pm

Cost: $200.00; Workshop fee includes materials and complimentary 3 hour studio time

Requirements: Participants must have close-toed shoes or boots, natural clothes, and hair tied back

14 +, Participants under 18 must have a parent/guardian present
