We are delighted to announce the upcoming artist residency at Salem Art Works, taking place in the spring of 2024. This unique opportunity invites sculptors from around the world to participate in a collaborative endeavor, where they will collectively create two captivating sculptures—one to be installed at Salem Art Works and the other at the International Sculpture Center.

Applications for this prestigious residency will open on August 1, welcoming submissions from all members of the International Sculpture Center. The International Sculpture Center is a member-supported, nonprofit organization established in 1960, dedicated to fostering the creation and comprehension of sculpture and its profound impact on society. With a diverse membership comprising sculptors, collectors, patrons, architects, journalists, curators, and many others passionate about the field of sculpture, the ISC stands as a prominent advocate for the art form.

Nestled in the picturesque landscape of upstate New York, Salem Art Works was founded by Anthony Cafritz in 2005. It serves as a dynamic platform for emerging and established artists committed to pushing boundaries and forging innovative artistic expressions. Salem Art Works actively fosters understanding and appreciation of contemporary art within the region through a rich tapestry of cultural events, exhibitions, educational workshops, and artist programs.

Application Information

Requirements

  • Artists must be 21 or older to apply.

  • Artists must be active members of ISC Artists must submit 10 work samples of completed projects, title sheet, artist statement, letter of intent, and a CV or resume, and one letter of recommendation.

REVIEW PROCESS

  • The ISC @ SAW applicants will be reviewed by SAW staff and a guest jury of artists and curators.

  • Applicants will be selected based on their application materials, work samples, statement of intent, references, and recommendation letters, and must meet all the application requirements regarding their age (over 21 years) and membership status in the ISC.

IMPORTANT DATES

  • Residency Dates: May 6, 2024 - July 15, 2024

  • Deadline to apply is Thursday November 30, 2023 at 11:59 PM EST

  • Deadline for letters of recommendation is Friday, November 30, 2023 at 11:59 PM EST

  • Artists will be notified by January 1, 2024
